Quote of the day

I was given this wonderful  book called, Here's To You. It is a compilation of inspiring quotes attached to a general subject. The general subject is introduced as Here's to you..... This book was given to me by a beloved student of mine who is far more inspiring than any book. Consequently the sentimental attachment to this copy makes it priceless.
Every now and then, I like to play a game using this special book. The intention of the game is to randomize some stirring words to raise my spirits and arouse motivation. It is a kids game we all played. I flip the pages, pop my hand into the book, and whatever I land on are that day's words to follow. Today I landed on Here's to your LEADERSHIP. The quote that followed is:
"The future is in the hands of those who can give tomorrow's generations valid reasons to live and hope"
 - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Yikes!! My brain and heart pulsates with the contemplation of this task. These words always seem to resound  in my being and I hope echo in my movement. As I dance, prance or pound about trying to engage students to join me in the risk of such foolery, I know I have inspired at least one because I am looking at this very special gift that says so. I know I have inspire two or three more because I watch and see them dance, prance or pound trying to discover the answers to their questions. I have faith in them that they will inspire others to move in their method of exploration defying risk's fear. So much faith! More faith in them than I do in myself.
I watch tomorrow' generation mull over the scrambling mess of impossibilities but they are always scouting the future for possibilities and as they move to that horizon they transform what we once deemed fiction into a everyday motion. I think its a circle. Much like this book. A book of possibilities given to me by my beloved student. A gift for whatever the heck I did right! It is a circle. This circle moves in some strange fluid clockwork motion providing all generations to live and hope.
So here is to every little bit of leadership we share!

Bill
